Both the Army Offshore Centre Gosport and the Inshore Centre at Thorney Island run Powerboat courses. Both centres have now been approved and all serving members can use their Standard Learning Credits (SLC) to pay for 80% of the cost of some courses. We are working with Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to ensure our Offshore courses can also qualify for funding. When we have been approved we will update all serving members.
SLCs may be used for the Safety Boat course in support of the management of Sport or Adventure Training in the Services as long as there is evidence in the Service Person’s Personal Development Plan. Whilst it is acknowledged that the Powerboat Level 2 course is a prerequisite for the Safety Boat course, it must be funded from alternative sources to the SLC scheme.
